|Jan Berry Schroeder, M.Ed.
Missioner for Missional Living and Director of Servant Year
Jan is a native Philadelphian who grew up in a missionary family spending a formative portion of her childhood in Kathmandu, Nepal. These early beginnings formed her vocation for missional living. She came home to the mountains of Virginia where she attended college and graduate school, earning an M.Ed. in Counseling and moving to Georgia and later Chicago to pursue her counseling career in Higher Education, Healthcare and eventually Hospice. She began exploring the intersection of missional living with vocation as her family grew. Married to her favorite Iowan, they moved back to this area to finish raising their children. During this time she experienced a call to work in Youth and Family Ministry. A graduate of EFM and the FORMA Certificate Program in Family and Youth Ministry, she spent 8 years as Director of Family Ministry within the Diocese. As Missioner for Missional Living and Director of Servant Year Jan is charged with helping others find their Missional voice and purpose to live out their faith in their daily lives. She feels deeply called to this work because she understands the importance of receiving support during times of discernment and is grateful for those who have supported her own life work and rule. In serving as Director of Servant Year she is excited to have the opportunity of paying it forward and helping others shape their own call to vocation.
