5:00 pm – 5:30 pm
St. David’s Episcopal Church, 763 S. Valley Forge Road, Wayne PA 19087
St. David’s Episcopal Church will be hosting Wandering the Way of the Cross: Outdoor Stations in the St. David’s Churchyard, a multimedia outdoor walking experience throughout the 40 days of Lent. All are invited to attend a guided walkthrough each Friday from 5:00-5:30 pm, and on Good Friday at 11:00 am and 5:00 pm (before the two Good Friday services in the Chapel). However, the stations will be available for individuals at any time if they would like to experience them alone. Children and pets are also welcome.
The Stations of the Cross is an ancient meditative pilgrimage inviting followers of Jesus to walk with him to his death through Scripture, images, and prayer. This year, the Stations of the Cross will be held outside in the St. David’s Churchyard, right outside of the Old Church. Each station includes a beautiful poster designed by A Sanctified Art, a team of artists in ministry who create multimedia resources for worshiping communities of all shapes and sizes, as well as a music piece from the album Songs for Lent: New York Hymns, accessible by scanning a smartphone’s camera over the QR code. Booklets are also available outside of the stations and contain a Scripture, prayer, and reflection for each station.
“Every year in Lent, we come to the story of Jesus’ last weeks and days on earth,” says The Rev. Emily Zimbrick-Rogers, creator of the Stations. “This is an old story, we know it well, but every year, we have the opportunity to experience it fresh. The emotion. The sadness. The grief. The confusion of those who are walking the way of Jesus in his last days.” All are invited to experience the stations in this new multimedia format, offering an opportunity to enter this ancient story.
