Rise Against Hunger

Rise Against Hunger Pack-A-Thon on April 7, 10:30 am, at Messiah. Rise Against Hunger is an international hunger relief organization that distributes food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable. Driven by the vision of a world without hunger in our lifetime, Rise Against Hunger seeks to mobilize the necessary resources to end hunger by 2030.

Messiah has committed to hosting a Pack-A-Thon on Sunday, April 7, 2019 to pack 10,000 meals. We are looking for at least 50 volunteers for two hours—plus seven to ten folks who can lift 50 pounds to help load the truck. According to the Rise Against Hunger folks, 40-50 people can pack the 10,000 meals in two hours, so if we have a more than that - HOPEFULLY WE WILL - we will be able to complete this outreach in even less time than two hours.

This is a family-friendly event. Children age 5 and up can participate in Rise Against Hunger’s meal packaging program. There are a variety of jobs throughout the assembly line process that can accommodate young children and people with special needs.

Included in this outstanding, family-friendly outreach service opportunity is our commitment to raise $3450 for the event. Participants and friends are invited to make a contribution of any amount toward offsetting the $3450, in addition to each registering participant being invited to make a suggested donation of $10-$20.
