Hands united

Four Thursdays: October 1, 8, 15, 22

10:00 am to Noon

Over the course of four sessions, participants will learn basic applied skills for having on-going brave conversations about differences in their congregations and across the diocese, with a particular focus on race. Tools include: Guidelines for brave discussions and deepening relationships; emotional competence for anti-racism work; examining our multiple identities to understand ourselves and others and engage in relationships across differences; recognizing behavioral traps when power is in play, and alternatives to those traps; and the four levels (personal, interpersonal, institutional, and cultural) on which oppression operates which require a range of responses at each level. Participants attend all four sessions, which are highly interactive and appropriate for clergy and church professionals of all races and backgrounds. Facilitated by VISIONS, Inc. and co-sponsored by the Philadelphia Theological Institute, Anti-Racism Commission, Loving Presence, and the Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral.
