Edward Lee

Bishop Lee was born and raised in Fort Washington; baptized and confirmed at St. Thomas’ Church, Whitemarsh; is a graduate of Brown University and The General Theological Seminary; and served his first two ordained ministries, 1959-1973, at Holy Trinity, Rittenhouse Square, and Temple University. From 1973 to 1989 he was rector of St. James Church, Florence, Italy and St. John’s Church, Georgetown, Washington, D.C. In 1989, he was elected the seventh bishop of the Diocese of Western Michigan (the western half of the Lower Peninsula) where he served for thirteen years before retiring in 2002. With his wife Kathryn, he returned to the Philadelphia area; they live in Merion, and their home parish is St. Mary’s Church, Ardmore.
