The Rev. Canon Shawn Wamsley was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Miriam, for nearly eighteen years. They have three children together: Nathaniel, Corbyn, and Ariella. Most recently, Shawn served for three years as Canon for Youth and Family Ministries at the Cathedral of St. John in Albuquerque, NM. Shawn answered a call to the Episcopal Church after 15 years of bi-vocational ministry in the Assemblies of God. He has served as a Youth Pastor, and as an Assistant Pastor in Missouri and New Mexico. During that time, he spent 12 years as a high school teacher in a local private school, where he served as Spiritual Life and Activities Coordinator and as the Assistant Chaplain for a student body of approximately 1500.
As Canon to the Ordinary for Evangelism and Administration, Shawn serves the Diocese of Pennsylvania by promoting and proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ through word and action; emphasizing mission and reconciliation, outreach, social justice, and works of mercy and charity in a hurting world. He also acts as chief of the Diocesan staff, handling all matters of administration relating to human resources, policies, and procedures and personnel. Canon Wamsley assists in organizing and planning diocesan events, learning events, clergy gatherings and other activities; and supports the work of Diocesan Council and Finance Committee.
