The Venerable Pamela M. Nesbit was born in Montebello, California but has lived in Philadelphia since 1968. She is married and has one son, two step-children and two grandchildren. She worked as a clinical psychologist specializing in the care of victims of sexual abuse for forty years, retiring in 2015. She has served as a deacon in several parishes in Bucks Deanery and now serves as Deacon at the Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral and Archdeacon of the Diocese of Pennsylvania.
The Archdeacon of the Diocese of Pennsylvania serves as a liaison between the Bishop and the community of deacons. She is responsible for the recruitment, formation, deployment and pastoral care of deacons. She works closely with the Bishop to help implement the Bishop’s desires pertaining to all aspects of diaconal ministry in the diocese. She works closely with people interested in the diaconate, deacons in formation and deacons to encourage and support their ministry.
