Latest information on Reconvened Convention - January 6, 2007

Dear Sisters and Brothers:
In accord with Canon 3.2.2, the Secretary of Convention has notified you that the 223rd Diocesan Convention will reconvene at Philadelphia Cathedral on the Feast of the Epiphany, Saturday, January 6, 2007, at 10:00 a.m., to take up the unfinished business of considering Resolutions R-4-2006 through R-15-2006.
Registration will open in the Undercroft at 7:30 a.m. in order that you may register, pick up your materials for the day, and be present for the Holy Eucharist and Rites of Initiation on the Feast of the Epiphany, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The offering at the Eucharist will be added to the monies raised by the Diocesan Youth Council at the Bishop’s Ball later that evening for Episcopal Relief and Development’s Katrina Recovery Fund.
Clergy are asked to inform Dean Giles (richardg@philadephiacathedral.org or 215-386-0234 x101) by no later than noon on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 if they plan to present candidates for baptism, confirmation, reception, or reaffirmation.
Please bring with you the Convention materials you received on November 11. If you are unable, please be aware that the materials you will receive at registration on January 6 will contain the liturgies for the day, the agenda for the business remaining, and the resolutions to be considered. The authorized 2007 Program Budget will also be included in case any of the resolutions, as presented or amended, have budget implications.
The 2007 Diocesan Directory and Resource Guide was distributed on November 11. There is a copy available for each clergy person and lay members of most diocesan governance bodies. They will also be available in the Undercroft on January 6 for those who did not receive one on November 11. Also available will be a change sheet on which to give us corrections of any errors. If you prefer that a copy of the Directory be mailed to you, contact Gerrie Wilson at Church House (215.627.6434x0) directory is now also available on the diocesan website.
There will be coffee and bottled water available in the Undercroft throughout the day. We anticipate that the business will last into the afternoon, and ask you to bring your own brown bag lunch. A copy of the agenda is attached.
The lay deputies and alternates to the sessions of the 223rd Diocesan Convention on November 11 remain the same for the reconvened session. According to Canon 2.4.1, the Wardens should notify Sean Slack, the Secretary of Convention, not less than one week in advance (by December 31, 2006) regarding any change in lay representation, alternates attending, etc.
In the event of snow or unduly inclement weather, check the diocesan website (www.diopa.org) or the Church House switchboard (215-627-6434) for information regarding a postponement of the Convention to a scheduled snow date – Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 10:00 a.m.
