Convention Memo

SUBJECT: DIOCESAN CONVENTION

This year Convention will gather at the Philadelphia Cathedral, 3723 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia. All Convention activities will occur on one day, Saturday, November 3rd. The fall Convention emailing will contain more information about the agenda, arrangements and resolutions please also check www.diopa.org periodically for more information.

Nominations
Enclosed is the Nominating Committee’s slate for the offices of Standing Committee, Commission on Clergy Salaries and Pensions, Alternates to the 2006 General Convention, Christmas Fund, Diocesan Review Committee, Wapiti Board of Directors and nominations to the Church Foundation Board of Directors. Nominating petitions (sample enclosed) will now be received by the Committee on Elections. Petitions, along with a biographical information form attached and an electronic photo; should be emailed to J.D. Lafrance at jdlafrance@diopa.org ASAP to ensure longer web publication. The firm deadline for nominations is October 3rd. Please use an electronic format if possible.

Reports to Convention
By separate memorandum, committees, commissions, agencies and organizations of the diocese will be invited to submit reports to Convention. Subject to approval, reports will be published in the Journal of Convention. We ask that when sending your committee report, you add the names of your committee members who hold positions as of the 2007 Convention. Please send all reports and committee listings in electronic format only to Henry Carnes, Director of Christian Education at henryc@diopa.org.

Youth Deputies
In accordance with the Diocesan Standing Order for the Stated Convention, “each parish shall have the right to approve two youth representatives who shall have the right to sit with the deputies from their parish and who shall have the privilege of speaking but not voting on matters coming before Convention.” Go to www.diopa.org for more information.
