223rd Convention to Reconvene on January 6, 2007

Letter from the Secretary of Convention
The Consecration of Samuel Seabury
November 14, 2006

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

As you may know, our clergy and deputies did not complete the business on the agenda adopted by the Diocesan Convention last Saturday and voted instead to recess and reconvene within sixty days.

In accord with Canon 3.2.2, I am writing to notify you that the reconvened 223rd Diocesan Convention will be held at Philadelphia Cathedral on the Feast of the Epiphany, Saturday, January 6, 2007 beginning at 8:30 a.m. with the Holy Eucharist and Rites of Initiation. Registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. in the Undercroft. The reconvened business session of the Convention will begin at 10:00 a.m. The main business will be to consider Resolutions R-4-2006 through R-15-2006.

The lay deputies and alternates to the sessions of the 223rd Diocesan Convention on November 11 remain the same for the reconvened session. According to Canon 2.4.1, the Wardens should notify Sean Slack the Secretary of Convention, not less than one week in advance (by December 31, 2006) regarding any change in lay representation – alternates attending, etc.

Please keep your books from last Saturday's Convention to bring with you to the reconvened session.

Clergy are asked to inform Dean Giles at richardg@philadephiacathedral.org or 215-386-0234 x101) by no later than noon on Monday, January 2, 2007 if they plan to present candidates for baptism, confirmation, reception, or reaffirmation.

In the event of snow or unduly inclement weather, check the diocesan website for information regarding a postponement of the Convention to a scheduled snow date – Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 10:00 a.m.

Further information regarding details will be forthcoming. If you have any questions about this notice in the meantime, please feel free to e-mail me at sslack94@comcast.net.

Sincerely,

Sean Slack
Secretary of Convention
