Dear Sisters and Brothers in ministry:
Discretionary spending and the ways we manage Discretionary Funds are an ongoing concern of the Church. The national church has recently revised Chapter V of the Manual of Business Methods on Discretionary Funds. This is a document with which you should all be familiar. A copy of that revision is attached as a PDF file.
It is important that we all address this issue in a responsible way. I trust that all Clergy and Wardens in the diocese will take some time to familiarize themselves with this information. Please let my office know if you need any assistance in this matter. It is important that we show both good stewardship and good accounting practices in how we use these funds that are entrusted to us for the benefit of others.
