Safeguarding God's Children program online
Dear Clergy and Parish Administrators,
In response to many parishes requesting safe church training in their own parishes, the Diocese of Pennsylvania is now offering the Safeguarding God’s Children program online. Individuals will now be able to take the training in the comfort of their own homes, and the status of modules completed will be able to be monitored by a designated contact person in your parish.
Church Pension Group recommends that the parish administrator or rector be the person who is selected to be the local contact person for this program, but anyone who is familiar with records keeping will be more than capable of serving in this capacity.
If you have individuals who need safe church training, please confirm that the individual listed on the attached excel document is the appropriate person to be the contact person (with the correct contact information) for your parish. An account has already been set up for you. If this is not the person that you would prefer, please send the contact information for the person you would like to serve in this capacity to J.D. Lafrance at jdlafrance@diopa.org if you wish to participate in the program, or you can make the changes yourself once you log onto your account. If your parish is unable to maintain computerized records please let us know and assistance will be provided for you.
Each contact person will need to complete a 30 minute training that will be conducted by Angela Adams on the telephone. With this short investment of time, each parish will now be able to schedule safe church training at its convenience and will no longer be dependent on diocesan classes held in locations that may present logistical challenges to your staff and volunteers.
