Save the Date for Campus Ministry!
Lutheran Episcopal Campus Ministry at Temple University is continuing, and you are invited to learn more our activities. Save the date for our Chaplains Reception at Church of the Advocate on April 21, 2012, 4:00 – 6:00 PM. Please plan to attend and learn about new developments in the ministry. More details will follow.
The Fall was an unsettling time for LECM as Board members and students worked with our outgoing Chaplain Peter Grandell and the newly appointed Chaplain, the Rev. Dr. Renee Mackenzie-Hayward, to figure out what would happen next as LECM came under the aegis of the Vicar of the Church of the Advocate. The members of the LECM Board were sure of one thing – they wanted the campus ministry to continue at Temple. Happily, this is happening and the ministry is still a going ecumenical concern at Temple and now also at the Church of the Advocate. The Board is excited to be working with Pastor Renee who has jumped right in to work with the returning students and also seek ways to reach out to new students.
We on the board have decided to call ourselves the LECM Advisory Council just to make it clear that while our role has changed, we have retained our ways of working together. Penny Cutler will continue as Chair, Gary Bronson as Treasurer, The Rev. Jean Mather as Secretary. Our Student Rep, Sean Montgomery, remains as Vice-chair. Our other members are Don Stout, The Rev. Steven Keiser, Bruce Hanes, Tyrone Keller, and two Temple professors Lucy Bregman and Robert Hamilton. The Rt. Rev. Edward Lee has been our advisor and connection to the Episcopal Diocese, and we hope this also continues. We will work on fundraising, publicity and any other tasks that arise to assist Chaplain Renee Mackenzie-Hayward any way we can.
Submission by Penny Cutler, Chairperson of the Advisory Council
