Reminder about Your Diocesan Health and Welfare Benefits Trust (DHWBT) Benefits Insurance Billing

Things You Must Do to Continue Your Active Clergy or Lay Employee Coverage

Wrapping up 2011

You have been billed at the beginning of this month for the premiums that cover the December 2011, Insurance that is already in effect with Independence Blue Cross (Personal Choice or Keystone), Delta Dental and the Rider Benefits. It is IMPERATIVE that you pay all balances due to DHWBT by December 31, 2011. If your payment in full is not received by January 31, 2012, your coverage for 2012 will be suspended retroactively. If this creates an insurmountable problem for your parish, you MUST contact the Rev. Tom Wand to work out a payment plan by December 21st. Tom can be reached by email at twand@stmarysardmore.org or by phone at 610-291-4362.

If you are unable to reconcile the balance on the statement with your records, please contact Parke Rouse by email at parke@mydiopabenefits.org or by phone at 215-874-4949 immediately. If you do not contest the balance in writing by December 19th, we will note your agreement that the bill is correct and will expect your payment by December 31, 2011.

Also, all claims for the 2011 co-pay or mental health rider programs MUST be submitted by February 29, 2012 for reimbursement to DHWBT at PO Box 63930, Philadelphia, PA 19147-7930. These programs are ending, and no claims for services rendered after December 31, 2011 or claims submitted after February 29, 2012 can be honored.

Getting Started with 2012

You are being billed now by Benefits Development Group on behalf of DHWBT for January, 2011, coverage. After this, you will be billed during the 2nd week of the month prior to your active insurance coverage, and your payments must be received before the end of the month that the insurance covers.
Some examples as this process begins:

  • January 2012 coverage is being billed now and is due on January 2, 2012 and late if not received by January 31, 2012.
  • February 2012 coverage will be billed in mid-January 2012 and is due on February 1, 2012 and late if not received by February 29, 2012.
  • March 2012 coverage will be billed in mid-February 2012 and is due on March 1, 2012 and late if not received by March 31, 2012.

It is IMPERATIVE that you stay current with your premium payments to avoid suspension in your coverage. Coverage may be suspended retroactively if your payments up to 60 days behind, and will be suspended if you are 90 days behind.

The Diocese and DHWBT are not in a position to carry your insurance premium liabilities—it is your responsibility to ensure that your accounts are kept current.

If your coverage is suspended, it cannot be reactivated until ALL balances are paid to bring the account current.
