Important Reminder from the Commission on Clergy Salaries and Pensions About Health Insurance Programs for Active Clergy and Lay Employees

Note: If you are retired clergy or lay employee on Medicare, none of this applies to you! Unless you want to make changes to your insurance, you need do nothing! There are no changes in your health or dental insurance for 2012.

If you are actively working or are retired but not yet on Medicare, read on!

1. Your present health insurance and dental coverage will end on December 31, 2011. You will need to enroll in new coverage for 2012.

You should have received (or receive in the next few days):

  • a letter welcoming you to the new coverage and providing online enrollment instructions
  • a packet with information about the new health insurance program offerings and premiums.

If you do not receive these by November 1, contact Tom Wand at twand@stmarysardmore.org and come to the information meetings listed below.

2. To learn more about health insurance plan offerings, attend one of the information meetings to be held November 1, 2, and 3. Each insured cleric or lay employee should attend one of these meetings.

3. Consult with your Wardens, Vestry, or other appropriate person at your workplace as you make your health insurance choice for 2012.
Find out the level of payment to be made by your parish/ employer (for clergy this is canonically mandated) and decide what is best for your situation. Surprises help no one, so keep in touch with others affected by your decision.

4. If you have questions (particularly if you are still confused after attending one of the informational meetings) contact one of these Commission Members:

Tom Wand at twand@stmarysardmore.org
Marc Andonian at marc_andonian@yahoo.com
Matt Reese at matt.reese@f-h-h.com

If you are receiving active (non-Medicare supplement) health insurance through the Diocese, you must take action! Doing nothing will not serve you well. Thanks for your cooperation.
