In an effort to keep the Diocese informed of the business of Council, like other governance bodies of the diocese, we will attempt, through electronic media to provide a synopsis of our meetings. If you have any questions, please contact your Deanery representative to Council or any member of Council’s Executive Committee, whose members are; the Rev. Kathy Andonian, Mr. Alan Lindsay, Mr. F. Joseph Merlino, and Mr. George Whitfield, Vice-chairperson of the committee.

The Episcopal Youth Event Delegation 2008 is in its final stages of registration. Because this event only happens every three years, only those that have three more years in high school will be able to attend in 2011. If you have a promising youth with leadership skills in your parish please encourage them to come with us this year to San Antonio, Texas July 7 – 13.
The Episcopal Youth Event will be held at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Mandated by the General Convention, E.Y.E. is the second largest event in the Episcopal Church and the single largest youth event in the Episcopal Church.

WAPITI – A summary of key events and decisions since 2003
In January, 2003, The Conservation Fund (the Fund) a Washington D.C.-based non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of large tracts of land, joined in partnership with the Diocese to acquire Wapiti Farm, a 616 acre tract with a mile of waterfront on the Elk River, a tributary of the Chesapeake. The Diocese contributed $3 million to that property acquisition by the Fund. The agreement between the Fund and the Diocese contemplated that the Fund would be bought out, and its investment recovered, with funding from various government programs.

Christ Church Preservation Trust wins award
The Christ Church Preservation Trust was recognized as a Grand Jury Award winner at the 15th Annual Preservation Achievement Award luncheon of the Preservation Alliance of Greater Philadelphia on May 1, 2008. The award was for the Trusts’ ongoing preservation work on the building’s exterior and for their fire protection system. The award included mention that “The Christ Church Trust and congregation are exemplary examples of the best practices of preservation planning and property stewardship.”
