Ecclesiastical Trial scheduled

The Standing Committee has been advised by the Church Attorney that the Ecclesiastical Trial of the Right Reverend Charles E. Bennison, Jr., on the Presentment dated October 29, 2007 on charges filed by the then Presiding Bishop, Frank Griswold, has been scheduled for June 9, 2008. The trial will be conducted in Philadelphia and will be open to the public. The exact location of the trial has not yet been determined.

The International Anglican Liturgical Consultation (IALC) is a gathering of Anglican liturgical scholars and specialists who, beginning in the 1980’s, perceived the need to meet and discuss matters of mutual concern for Anglican liturgical life. This article is concerned with two essays that were published in a collection titled Equipping the Saints: Ordination in Anglicanism Today [1], which are related to the IALC Berkeley Statement on Ordination.

Episcopal Youth Event in San Antonio, Texas

The Episcopal Youth Event Delegation 2008 is in its final stages of registration. Because this event only happens every three years, only those that have three more years in high school will be able to attend in 2011. If you have a promising youth with leadership skills in your parish please encourage them to come with us this year to San Antonio, Texas July 7 – 13.

The Episcopal Youth Event will be held at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Mandated by the General Convention, E.Y.E. is the second largest event in the Episcopal Church and the single largest youth event in the Episcopal Church.

Youth Mission Trip to Guatemala

The Diocese is pleased to announce that we will again be co-sponsoring a Youth Mission Trip to Guatemala for 2008.

The trip is both a pilgrimage of faith and a mission trip. It may be the only trip of its kind in the Episcopal Church! This is joint trip for youth from both companion dioceses rather than just a one-sided mission trip. Mission is very large and important to our work in Guatemala but it is not the only thing we do.
