Celebrating Our Past: Reaching New Horizons

The Philadelphia Cathedral will host the Opening Eucharist for The Union of Black Episcopalians 40th Anniversary Meeting and Conference. The Rt. Reverend Allen Bartlett will be the celebrant and The Rt. Reverend Nathan Baxter will be the preacher.
Prior to the Eucharist beginning at 7:30 p.m., there will be a tribute to Dr. Horace Clarence Boyer, an expert on black gospel music, editor of Lift Every Voice and Sing II, an African-American Hymnal and professor of music (emeritus) at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
The musical prelude will be offered by Dr. Jay Fluellen and Dr. Carl Maulsby.
