Cathedral Singers and Friends "Lift Up Your Voices"

2008 Cathedral Festival

May 4 | 4:00pm | Philadelphia Cathedral

The Cathedral Singers, under the direction of Riyehee Hong, join the Tononi String Quartet, the Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale and Karen Christianson in festival concert of organ and choral music entitled “Lift Up Your Voices”. The program begins with Ms. Hong and the Tononi String Quartet performing Handel’s Organ Concerto in F Major, Op. 4. No 4. followed by the Cathedral Singers and Quartet in a performance of Haydn’s Little Organ Mass in B Flat Major.

Members of the Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale join the Cathedral Singers in the Philadelphia premiere of “Echoes” by 12-year old composer Karen Christianson who is also the 2008 Cathedral Organ Scholar. The festival celebration concludes with the world premiere of Andrew Galuska’s choral composition “Windows” performed by the Cathedral Singers. Admission is free; however, a suggested donation of $20 general, $10 for students supports the Cathedral’s Organ Restoration Fund.
