The Philadelphia Cathedral presents Zarouhie Abdalian’s exhibition “Aliasings” with a reception Wednesday, April 30 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Abdalian’s artwork explores aerial photographs of Philadelphia and of her hometown, New Orleans, through a variety of media, investigating the relationship between distance and fidelity, scale and noise.

Cathedral Singers and Friends "Lift Up Your Voices"

The Cathedral Singers, under the direction of Riyehee Hong, join the Tononi String Quartet, the Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale and Karen Christianson in festival concert of organ and choral music entitled “Lift Up Your Voices”. The program begins with Ms. Hong and the Tononi String Quartet performing Handel’s Organ Concerto in F Major, Op. 4. No 4. followed by the Cathedral Singers and Quartet in a performance of Haydn’s Little Organ Mass in B Flat Major.

Lecture from Great Britain's Chief Rabbi

Great Britain’s Chief Rabbi, Sir Jonathan Sacks, will hold a lecture for religious leaders at the cathedral. His topic will be, “The Dignity of Religious Difference: How to Avoid the Clash of Civilizations.”

Staff Changes at the Cathedral
At the Sunday Liturgy on March 30 Dean Richard Giles announced his retirement after nine years as dean. He and his wife Sue will return to live in the UK, making their home in Tynemouth in the North East of England. A firm date has yet to fixed (the dean has a house to sell and needs a buyer!), but it will be sometime during the summer of this year.
At the same time Dean Richard announced that Canon Lloyd Casson has agreed to join the cathedral staff, initially as priest associate as from June 15 and, upon Dean Richard’s retirement, as Interim Dean for a period of 12 months.
