Harvard Glee Club and Keystone Boychoir Concert
Mar 27 | 7:30pm | Holy Trinity, Rittenhouse
On March 27, 2008, the Harvard Glee Club, the oldest college chorus in America, will join the Keystone State Boychoir in a concert at the historic Church of the Holy Trinity in Philadelphia. With the help of the Harvard-Radcliffe Club of Philadelphia, this should be a great experience for alumni, friends, and public alike!
Founded in 1858, the Harvard Glee Club is considered by many to be the premier collegiate men’s chorus in the country, and has long been associated with major orchestras and composers. The 60 collegians perform men’s choral music ranging from Renaissance sacred music to contemporary works, folk songs to fight songs, and feature a smaller pop a cappella ensemble. This year they are celebrating their 150th anniversary with a nation-wide tour, including concerts at venues such as Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Ravinia Music Festival in Chicago.
The Keystone State Boychoir, founded in 2001, consists of young men between the ages of 8 and 18 who sing a diverse repertoire, from the classical to the contemporary, world music, folk, jazz, spirituals, gospel and Broadway. KSB has performed in the region’s major venues with the region’s major ensembles, including the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Opera Company of Philadelphia. In the summer of 2008 KSB will embark on a concert tour of Monaco, France, Germany, Austria and Bulgaria.
The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. on March 27th, at the Church of the Holy Trinity at 1904 Walnut Street in downtown Philadelphia. Tickets for the joint concert are $20 and $10 for students and seniors. A patron ticket, which includes premium seating for the concert, is available for $30. Tickets may be purchased online at www.brownpapertickets.com or by calling 1-800-838-3006. Tickets may also be available at the door.

Call for Volunteers: Overnight Housing Needed for Harvard Glee Members
Traditionally the Glee Club has spent its overnights on tour with local families, and the Harvard Club has offered to arrange housing for their night’s stay in the Philadelphia area. So we need volunteers! If you are willing to open your home to a member (or two, or more) of the Harvard Glee Club, we and they would be most grateful.
In addition to making a room available on the night of the 27th (and providing breakfast in the morning), we would depend on hosts to pick them up at Holy Trinity Church after the concert and drop them at a central location in Philadelphia, for a bus ride to New York, in the morning.
If you think you might be interested, subject to confirmation somewhat closer to the date, please email housing coordinator Timothy Martin ‘72: timartin@camden.rutgers.edu
