“It’s all about telling a story,” said Jennifer Tucker of her new position as Director of Communications for the Diocese. “And, I know there are a lot of great stories to be told here.”
In her new position, Tucker will streamline and overhaul communications to ensure the critical work of the Diocese’s 132 churches is elevated and highlighted. “Effective communication is a conversation that leads to some kind of action or thought change. It also involves figuring out a balance between too much information and too little. I am excited to work a bishop who understands this and puts priority on it.”
“Our vision is to know Jesus Christ and make Him known to the world as His disciples and evangelists,” said Bishop Gutiérrez. “Communications is vital to expressing that vision. Responding to needs expressed by churches, we have re-organized the staff to meet those needs and not increased the overall budget to do so.”
Tucker was selected after a three-month process that included dozens of candidates.
She brings with her more than 20 years of experience in public relations and marketing. Her career began at Porter Novelli and Tierney. Over the years, she has worked with large consumer brands, such as IBM, Nissan and Marriott, and for many notable non-profits and universities in the region.
She is on the board of directors for The Clean Air Council; a vice president for the St. Peter’s School Parents Association and an active volunteer for Red Paw and several other groups in the city. Tucker and her family attend church at Holy Trinity Rittenhouse Square. She holds a B.A. in English from Lehigh University.
