You can help Wapiti grow
There are many ways you can help to support the ministry of the Wapiti Retreat and the Diocese of Pennsylvania. Review the following then contact the Wapiti Retreat to let us know how you can help.
Spread the Word
Help us in spreading the word about Wapiti, our camp programs, and the wonderful year round facilities that we have for you to enjoy. Spread the word within your parishes, with friends and family or your place of work. Word of mouth communications is our best form of marketing.
Think strategically
Think strategically about the organizations you are involved in and events that you could have at Wapiti (i.e. annual retreats, women's Group luncheons, business retreats, family reunions, holiday celebrations, etc.) Contact us now to reserve your dates for next year!
Become a member of the Wapiti Task Force
We would like to have at least one active representative from every parish in our diocese as a member on the Wapiti Task Force. Task Force members attend periodic meetings about Wapiti to learn about upcoming events, distribute marketing materials and establish Wapiti displays at their parish, provide input to staff on future facilities design ideas, support diocesan sponsored events held at Wapiti, and helping us to spread the good news about Wapiti.
Volunteer
Volunteer your support at camp or events by assisting with planning, teaching programs, construction, landscaping, cooking, etc. Volunteer your time and expertise to the ministries of Wapiti by teaching a class during our summer camp, or offering a seminar / program during our many adult events.
Donations
Contribute to our camp scholarships program or donate supplies, materials or equipment to our facility or in support of our programs. For example we are in need of the following:
- Canoes, kayaks, sail boats, motorized safety boats
- Buses, vans for transporting campers and adults to events
- Medical supplies (i.e. band-aids, cold medicines, etc.)
- Canteen snacks for campers
- Heavy equipment for site work (i.e. dozer or backhoe), compressor, shop vacuum, chipper/mulcher, miscellaneous tools
- Plants, trees, flowers or landscaping materials
Scholarships
Donate scholarships for underprivileged youth to attend our summer camp programs ($425 per camper) actual costs to Wapiti are $650 per camper, which are currently subsidized by the Diocesan Program Budget, so any contribution amount is greatly appreciated.
Contribute to Development
Contribute to the future development of buildings that are needed to improve the camp program ministry at Wapiti. Our camp programs continue to grow in number, but facilities at Wapiti are limited. Adding structures such as a commercial dining facility, program activity buildings and cabins will only help to improve the quality of our camp programs and the efficiency of running this wonderful ministry.
