Doug Horner was raised in Moorestown, New Jersey. He lives with Marcia, his wife of 30 years, in Mt. Laurel, N.J. They have two grown children (Peggy Anne and Gregory), and a dog (Bailey). He is a graduate of La Salle University and has attained the Certified Public Accountant certification. In his career of 35+ years, Doug has had a mixture of non-profit, private, and public experience as a financial management and operations professional. Doug was hired as the Finance & Business Administrator for the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania in 2016. In November 2017 Doug was honored to be named Canon for Finance & Business.
The Canon for Finance & Business position has its major responsibility for the oversight and performance of all financial, investment, budgetary and organizational duties to support the ministry of the Diocese of Pennsylvania and the Bishop of the Diocese of the Pennsylvania in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and policies. This position also assists the Bishop’s Office as needed, and functions as a member of his team. The Canon for Finance is responsible for managing and controlling the daily accounting functions of the organization which include accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger and expense authorization activity. Additionally, the Canon for Finance & Business is the Diocesan Benefits Administrator for all Church Pension Group benefits offered to all active clergy & lay employees of the Diocese, all subsidized retired clergy of the Diocese and all retired lay Office of the Diocese employees.
