As we prepare for the 226th Diocesan Convention on November 14th, the Diocesan Liturgical Commission invites your participation in the Convention liturgy. Please take note of the following ways in which you may join with brothers and sisters from parishes throughout the Diocese in support of our common worship:

Call for Choir Members

During the Offertory portion of the service of Holy Eucharist, we will have three musical offerings: two anthems and a hymn. The first anthem will be sung by the choir from St George & St Barnabas Church. For the second anthem, we invite choir members from across the Diocese to move forward to join with the St. George & St. Barnabas choir in singing “Draw Us In the Spirit’s Tether” by H. Friedell. The joining of our voices to sing this beautiful anthem will be a powerful sign of our unity as we offer ourselves to God. Please contact Michael Diorio at mdiorio@theredeemer.org if your choir (or a portion thereof) is willing to commit to this service for the Diocese.

Call for Ushers

Ushers at the Diocesan Convention distribute and collect ballot sheets and pencils, count hand ballots, pass alms plates, and direct the participants to communion stations during the service of Holy Eucharist. If you are interested in receiving training and performing this very vital ministry for the Diocese, please contact Geoffrey Middleton by emailing to ushers@philadelphiacathedral.org for more information or by calling the Cathedral at 215.386.0234. This is a wonderful way for non-delegates to serve and to witness the important work of the Diocesan Convention.

Call for Parish Banners in Procession

We envision a colorful, vibrant procession into the Convention Hall at the beginning of the service of Holy Eucharist at 11am. If you are interested in processing your parish banner, please contact The Rev. Renee McKenzie-Hayward for more information at renee177@comcast.net or 215.222.2070. If you choose to process, it is critical that you bring your own stand for the banner. No parish will want to be left out!
