Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
I call you to assemble as a “council of the church” at our annual Diocesan Convention to be held on Saturday, November 14, 2009. This year our convention will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. It will be a one-day convention, beginning at 8:30 AM with registration starting at 7:30 AM.
All the people and clergy of the diocese are asked to register ahead of time this year. Doing so will help our staff in organizing the vast amount of material and information necessary for convention. Registration can be done either online using the diocesan website or by the regular U.S. Mail Service. This year there is a $20.00 registration fee for each person attending convention including lay and clerical delegates alike to help defray some of the convention costs. This is a normal occurrence in the vast majority of dioceses in the country and is often significantly more than the amount we are asking. It would be appropriate for each parish to pay the registration fees for their respective representatives. This fee can be either mailed to the diocesan offices at Church House ahead of time or brought with you the day of convention.
I look forward to being with you as we gather as a diocese in November. May this time together be more than just doing “the business of the diocese” but also one of fellowship and good will as we celebrate the many Outreach Ministries in the diocese this year.
