The Rev. Betsy Ivey joined the staff of the Offices of the Diocese of Pennsylvania in February 2017 as the part-time Director of Family and Young Adult Ministries. At Eastertide, Bishop Gutiérrez named Rev. Ivey to the full-time position of Canon for Resources and Support. As Canon, Rev. Ivey ministers to parishes that desire to renew their ministries with strategic planning, asset and resource assessment and budget alignment. Under the Bishop’s leadership, Canon Ivey’s ministry is woven into the ministries of the other Canons of the Office. Maintaining the position of Director of Family and Young Adult Ministries, Canon Ivey has direct supervision of the City Camp and the Diocesan Youth Ministry, and oversees the Servant Year program.
Rev. Ivey earned her undergraduate degree from University of Pennsylvania where she majored in history. She retired from employment with the Commonwealth of PA Office of the Inspector General where she served as Assistant Director of the fraud investigation office. Rev. Ivey’s call to the priesthood led her to study at the Lancaster Theological and the General Theological Seminaries, graduating from both with honors. Rev. Ivey was ordained to the deaconate and priesthood in the Diocese of Central Pennsylvania. Rev. Ivey has two daughters from a previous marriage, four grandchildren, and a labradoodle named Noah.
